You ever see an ad that just gives you irrational thoughts? This would be one of those ads for me:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The interior color is spectacular and all the options are exactly how I would spec one of these. If it were metallic black on the outside I would be in serious trouble.

Facebook ads are reaching high effectiveness on me.

When the Ranger’s rust became too much to keep dealing with (welding projects are fun, but not when you have to drive them) I started looking for a new ride. I wanted something without a lot of tech. I know how to drive and don’t need a car that beeps at me or tries to out-think me, and don’t like screens. Well, surprise, can’t be done. The closest I could find to something I’d like is a new Ram 1500 Express, but I guess I’m just too goddamn cheap. I still think 30 grand is a lot of money.

So I started looking at used, and had to go back a ways to avoid stupid tech. Irrational thought #1: Why not go way back to what I was driving 20 years ago? That led to a search, the search yielded results.

Irrational thought #1a: Holy shit, this one’s beautiful.

Irrational thought #2: I’m buying this:

Irrational thought #3: If I can fix the problems, I’ll have a pretty much brand new ‘88 Crown Vic for 10 grand or a thereabouts.

Irrational (?) thought #4: I’d rather fix greasy stuff than shiny stuff. This one’s totally rust free, 49,000 miles, with some mechanical issues. Driving it here, it will rust, but not for a while. I could have saved a bunch of money by getting one that’s already rusty, but if I could live with that I’d just keep the Ranger.

The ultimate goal is to mount a supercharged 454BBC backwards in the bed, sending power to all 4 corners through a v-drive.

Basically the same idea as Roadkill’s Stubby Bob. For the record I came up with the idea long before I saw that thing... but same concept for sure.

They all cause irrational thoughts. From that rotted out piece of scrap which some part of your brain insisted that you could bring back from the dead, to the brand new whateverthefuck you’d consider mortgaging your soul to drive home. We’re all just a little car crazy.

...well most of us anyway. Some people view them as soulless appliances and  end up in a Corolla.

Very true. I always wonder what it’s like to be in the latter camp but then realize life wouldn’t be as fun or motivating  if that were the case.

YES! And the wood grain just looks QUALITY. I normally don’t like wood grain but this one just looks so luxurious. I want to touch it. Even the mesh around the chronograph. It does things to me.
